Kwame Kilpatrick: Our Teflon Don Mayor

I have refrained from commenting on this Kwame situation for some time now.

I wanted to see and hear what this man was planning on saying to defend himself. And after hearing it last night, I am not in the least bit impressed.

The mayor got up last night and gave his boo-hoo speech, showed a little bit of emotion and said he was sorry to the citizens of Detroit and his family.

News flash people: saying you’re “sorry” is not the same as saying you’re “wrong,” which he did not do.

I, for one, do not buy the story that Kwame is the victim in this situation. That fake emotion and crocodile tears do not fool me and they shouldn’t fool you either.

I think people are really losing sight of the issue at hand. There is so much focus on sex, scandal and texting, that people have forgotten what this is really all about: LIES.

Who cares if this man had an affair with another woman? I don’t and neither should you. That stuff is his personal business.

But personal becomes public when the media gets a hold of it. Still, besides the point. The point is thatthis man (and whoever else) denied that any of this ever happened. They denied the affair, they denied the unjust firing of people, all the while under oath.

Last time I checked, that constitutes perjury and perjury is a crime punishable by a jail sentence.

I hear about all of these people supporting this man. Why?

What has this man done for you? This mayor that you support is basically taking money from your very pocket, yet you support him? Why?

He’s done a lot for the city.”

What has he done? Please, tell me. Show me, because I can’t seem to see it.

The people who support him neglect the fact that he is out spending lavishly on the city’s tab.

Even if he has done a few things here and there, the good does not outweigh the bad.

I urge people to see through the smokescreen of last nights apology. This man is not sorry.

He told people to stay away from his family, do not harass them, stay away from his house, leave his kids alone, leave his wife alone, etc.

Well, guess what? You, Kwame Kilpatrick, are the one who put your family in this position. Do not blame the media.

Kwame asked that people respect his privacy. Sure, that’s fine. I have no problem with that, I respect privacy.

I just don’t respect a liar.

  1. I completely co-sign with your thinking. The affairs are trifling, and I would otherwise regard them as his own business. The problem is that his extramarital affair and other irresponsible behavior was a major cause of the lawsuit and the $9.4 million the cash strapped city of Detroit paid out. If you or I had an affair with a subordinate, fired other subordinates to cover it up and the whole fiasco ended up costing Detroit taxpayers $9.4 million in hush money in a city where we are selling 32 parks to raise. And the mayor is out chasing tail just last week in NC on top of that. What we have now all learned represents the BS we know about, but a person like Kwame that exercises such bad judgement has likely got some other stupid stuff that has not come to light yet. Furthermore, Kwame is a liar, point blank. He lied about the affair, lied about the real reasons for firing those cops, lied about whether it was his decision or Jerry Oliver’s, lied about the Navigator, and he makes other people lie for him, like his staff claiming he was alone in NC, or Jerry Oliver saying firing Brown was his call, or Chief Cummings saying it was her call to purchase the navigator. He lies, which means you cannot trust what he says. And every time the people of Detroit let it pass with no consequence, and the business community lets it pass because Kwame is letting them have their way and make money, it makes people looking in from the outside say “Detroit is a mess because there is no accountability”. Black people in Detroit and frankly too many other places appear ready to tolerate any level of crookedness, cronyism, lies and corruption in order to have “Black” leadership. From a mayor taking a hit of crack on camera, to a congressional rep storing $90,000 in bribe money in his freezer, its all okay. In the end, as a community we look like complete jackasses, while fat cat liar mayors get a pass on their BS. Beatty had enough decency to step down, but Kwame is so arrogant, so stunningly certain that the people fear loss of “black” leadership more than they value some integrity in their leadership, that he can go on TV from a church to defiantly state that he will never quit. It is a sad, sad day in Detroit when this is the standard of leadership we accept.

  2. Thank you! I was starting to worry that I was the only one who thought that way. Aaron’s entry is perfect and the leave Kwami alone video is funny as hell. Kwami is a pompous ass. The idiots that voted him in office are seeing what he is really like. You would think that someone with the title of mayor of a major city could at least have an affair with a woman instead of a horse. She is even uglier that Mrs.K.
