Music News Hits: 2/8

Here’s a little wrap up of some recent music news:

–Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility, according to a statement from the band. This could affect the band’s Australian tour starting in seven days. The reported Stone Temple Pilots reunion could also be put on hold.

–My take: The only thing surprising to me about this news is that he “voluntarily” checked himself in.

–Martin Scorsese has recently done a documentary on the Rolling Stones called Shine a Light. For his next project, Scorsese will work on a Bob Marley documentary. The doc is scheduled for release on what would have been Marley’s 65th birthday, February 6, 2010.

–My take: Rock documentaries are pretty sweet. And Scorsese is undeniably an amazing director. I’m looking forward to both of these.

–Timbaland has signed a deal with Verizon Wireless to create the first mobile album, which will be available exclusively on the cell phone carrier’s V Cast service.

–My take: This. Is. STUPID!

–According to reports, Guns n’ Roses‘ Chinese Democracy is finally finished. However, Axl Rose’s demand for more money from the label is the only thing keeping it on hold.

–My take: They’ve been saying this album will be coming out for years! Now, I love GNR…the original GNR. This is nothing but hype and I will most certainly guarantee this album will be complete garbage.
