Again, I am late with a posting of this nature but I could not resist because this fine piece of American muscle is far too sweet to pass up.

Saleen is celebrating their 25th year of operation by producing a limited edition SA-25 Sterling Edition Mustang. Only 25 models will be produced to correspond to the years in business at a price of $99,995.

Buyers get a first class flight to Detroit, limo transportation from the airport, dinner with Saleen brass, a hosted tour of the Saleen plant and a custom leather jacket among other things.

Here are a few specs:

–Supercharged 5.0-liter, 620-hp, 600-lb-ft V8

–Custom 20-inch wheels

–Special suspension and brakes

–25 anniversary interior and exterior badging

–Push button electric start

Just might be one of the hardest cars I’ve seen in a long time…

Photos: Ford Thunderbird Italien Concept

You know, I’m not the biggest car guy. In fact, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know all that much about cars. But what I do know is whether I like a car or not…and I really like this one. I couldn’t resist posting these pics.

Here’s a little bit about the ride itself:

“Most early Ford show cars were sent to be destroyed after serving their duty, but this special car, a one-off Thunderbird called the “Italien” managed to escape the crusher. The story goes that this special Thunderbird was displayed at the 1964 New York World’s Fair (the one and only time it was shown), and was destined to be destroyed after the show. Instead, it was sold to actor Dale Robertson, and later in 1986 sold to Ford collector Don Chambers. Chambers owned the car for twenty years, and then sold it to Thunderbird restorer Tom Maruska, who brought the car back to its original condition as seen here. Design features of the “Italien” include a fastback roof line and a unique leather interior.”

This bad boy sold for a cool $600,000 at the 2008 Barrett-Jackson Auction.

Photos: 2008 Detroit Auto Show

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for…all of my photos from the Auto Show.

There will be more of my analysis from the show to come, but for now enjoy the pics.

Don’t drool too much!

P.S. I’m too lazy to write captions for all of these…deal with it.

Detroit Auto Show: Day 2

Well, the second day is complete for me.

Yet again, the press pass reigned supreme!

As an official member of the media, I perused the showroom floor with grace and style. I made my way from automaker to automaker, analyzing their production and the vehicles they were showcasing.

OK, I didn’t really do that. I was just gawking at the cars…no analysis involved really.

Since I had a lot of time to analyze (look at) the vehicles, many important questions came across my mind. Questions like, “What the F*%&@ is this?” and “What the hell were they thinking?”

Comments such as, “This looks like $hit” and “This would never sell” were also blurted from my lips. Not only those, but comments along the lines of, “Oooooooh!” and “Daaaaaaayummmmm!”

Actually, those were more like sounds…and I believe there was some drooling involved as well. But anyway…

I got a chance to explore everything in-depth and I feel my time was well spent.

And at the end of the day while the rest of the media was clamoring at the new Dodge concept cars near-by, I was playing Guitar Hero.

The Auto Show RULES!

Detroit Auto Show: Day 1

After an extemely long (about 11 hours) day covering the Detroit Auto Show, I learned a few valuable lessons after my first day…

–I hate getting up early.

–I enjoy covering events in a journalistic manner.

–Most editors (and other people) feel it is only right to abuse an intern to the highest extent.

–A press pass will get you to see stuff before everyone else.

–A press pass will get you free food.

–A press pass will get you free drinks.

–No one questions a press pass.

More to come on this…
